Kent Lovelace

Pacific Northwest Artist and Master Lithographer
1953-2017

Nationally recognized Pacific Northwest artist Kent Lovelace (1953 – 2017) created masterful oil paintings, lithographs and watercolors during his lifelong career. From 1979-2005, Lovelace was Founder and operator of Stone Press Editions, a lithography press, publishing house, and gallery where he was an early influencer of Seattle's art scene and where he worked closely with many local and internationally recognized artists. Beginning in 2001, Lovelace transitioned full-time to painting primarily with oils on copper plates, a tradition uncommon among contemporary artists, dating back to the early Renaissance. “I find myself drawn to land that has been cultivated continuously for thousands of years, where people seem to live in harmony with nature away from the intrusions of modern technologies.” Alternating between pure landscapes and bird subjects, Lovelace created works inspired by France, Italy, Portugal, Ireland, as well as the Northwest.
