THE BLACK SHEEP STUDIO
WHIDBEY ISLAND, WASHINGTON
2005
Construction was completed and painting began in my custom designed and built Black Sheep Studio. The 12oo sq. foot building has a large painting studio, an office loft, a wood shop, kitchen, and lots of creative space.
The building is classic Northwest - cedar shingle siding, clear fir interiors, an eighteen foot ceiling, and a black slate roof. It is situated on 10 acres overlooking the waters of Saratoga Passage with views to Mt. Baker and the Cascade mountains. Nestled within 100 acres of woods the studio is often visited by deer, bald eagles, ravens, nuthatches, gold finch and even the occasional Western Red Tanager.
Adjacent to the studio are the ‘black sheep’. Our flock of Shetland sheep are a dynamic and personable bunch. ‘Joe,' the friendly llama, watches over them and protects the young from coyote. Last years lambs, ‘Zippy, Zach, and Moe’ were all born black.
